Why I started this Blog

Full disclosure: I realize this is my first post in almost 3 years. Eeek. And really this should have been the first post.

If I don’t tell you why I started this blog, you can’t know what to expect.

I started this blog for several reasons.

  1. To connect with you. I wanted you to know that there’s a person behind the business. I didn’t want my website to be all about getting the client. I care about you and I want to connect with you! I want to work with you, not just for you.

  2. To share what I know. I’m a lifelong student. I have a bachelor’s degree in biblical and religious studies and a master’s degree in communications focused on professional writing. Outside of my formal education, I’ve taken several courses to continue bettering my skills, so that I can share more of my knowledge with you.

  3. To promote my business. I am a freelance content creator, editor, and virtual assistant. It might seem odd that I put this last, but without you (readers and website visitors) there is no business, so first and foremost, this blog is all about you.

Now that you know why I started this blog, what can you expect to find here?

  1. Posts about writing and editing.

  2. Posts about my life with Cerebral Palsy, life lessons, and more.

You might be asking, “Why would she tell us about her life on an editing website? And didn’t she just say this blog is all about us?”

It all goes back to reason number one for starting this blog: I want to connect with you. I hope that by giving you a window into my life, you’ll get a better sense of who I am as a person because who I am as a person affects how I approach my work.

You might also be asking if that means I’ll only work with certain clients. The answer is both yes and no.

The answer is yes because I won’t be everyone’s ideal editor, content creator or virtual assistant any more than everyone will be my ideal client. And that’s ok.

But the answer is also no. Yes, I have a degree in biblical and religious studies, and yes, I’m a Christian. However, that doesn’t mean we have to agree 100% in order to work together. It takes all kinds of people to make the world go round and that’s what makes it interesting.

Which brings me back to the number one reason I created this blog: I want to connect with you.

To get the most out of this site, I encourage you to read past posts and contact me if you have questions, comments, post ideas, or are interested in working with me.

So please, read on, share with friends, and come back soon.
